About

Flexiv was founded in November 2016 (core founding team from Stanford University's robotics and AI labs), headquartered in Shanghai with offices in Silicon Valley, Beijing, Shenzhen, Foshan, Taiwan, Singapore, and elsewhere, positioning itself as a globally technology-leading general intelligent robotics company focused on adaptive robots that integrate industrial-grade force control, computer vision, and artificial intelligence. In September 2019 it unveiled Rizon, the world's first adaptive robot, at the China International Industry Fair: equipped with the AnyGrasp algorithm and an original force feedback mechanism, unrestricted by object type (rigid, flexible, or deformable), it achieves human-adjacent grasping and manipulation and can do paint polishing, precision component assembly, and even massage therapy; the product line later expanded into Rizon models with different reaches and payloads, and the company self-develops key technologies such as robot bodies, servo drives, and sensors, with AI team results published in Nature, Science Robotics, and other leading journals. In 2026 the company previewed a new-generation adaptive robot to be released at Automate 2026. Funding: an A+ round in 2019 and an over-$100M Series B in December 2020 (Meituan, Zhujiang Group, New Hope Group, Longwood, Yunfeng Capital, China Merchants Capital, etc. participating) - then the largest single-round financing in global general-purpose robotics; the latest valuation is undisclosed, and a 2026 industry review places it in the RMB 10B valuation tier.

Technical Approach

Differentiates on adaptive capability fusing force control, vision, and AI: unlike traditional position-controlled industrial arms, Rizon performs contact-rich tasks safely through millinewton-level force feedback, and the AnyGrasp universal grasping algorithm cuts per-scenario programming costs; commercially it goes deep into manufacturing first (polishing, assembly, inspection), then expands into services, agriculture, medical, and other fields.

Commercialization(3)

  • The Rizon series is deployed in paint polishing, precision assembly, quality inspection, and other manufacturing scenarios, expanding into services, agriculture, and medical
  • Self-developed full-stack key technologies for robot bodies, servo drives, and sensors; AI results published in Nature, Science Robotics, etc.
  • Over-$100M Series B from investors including Meituan, Yunfeng Capital, China Merchants Capital, and New Hope Group

Position & Strengths(3)

  • Definer of the 'adaptive robot' category, with full-stack in-house force control + vision + AI
  • Algorithms such as AnyGrasp enable universal grasping across object forms, lowering deployment barriers
  • Stanford founding team plus multi-site China-US R&D layout, with deep industrial customer accumulation
