About

Futuring Robot was founded in Shanghai by Zhang Yi in September 2022; Zhang Yi previously founded the Zhangmen 1-on-1 education company and pivoted to robotics after the tutoring industry crackdown. The company is China's first robotics company focused on consumer home scenarios: in September 2025 the F1 started paid rental trials (RMB 3,000-4,000/month), and in April 2026 it launched the second-generation dual-arm home service robot F2 (21 DoF, 24 sensors, priced from RMB 36,000), covering childcare, light housework, pet interaction, and elder companionship. Technically it self-developed the AVLA end-to-end model, released the Self-Evolving WAM self-evolving world action model in May 2026, and has the third-generation brain WBC whole-body coordinated control in development; it fully self-develops motors, joints, arms, and grippers, with in-house joints costing about RMB 1,000 (versus about RMB 8,000 for third-party procurement). Its core moat is a data flywheel: 500 real households and 50,000 hours of data, with 96.8% user satisfaction and a 50% referral rate. It completed three rounds totaling over RMB 1.5B in H1 2026, with a nearly RMB 1B Pre-A setting a home robot sector record; the open questions are the small prototype fleet scale and the yet-to-be-proven mass production and business loop.

Technical Approach

Focused purely on ToC home scenarios and firmly not doing ToB, benchmarking a 'premium childcare service' rather than 'a nanny'. The technology stack iterates from the AVLA end-to-end model to the Self-Evolving WAM self-evolving world action model (physical reasoning that simulates consequences before acting), with the third-generation brain WBC whole-body coordination plus full-modal perception in development. Fully self-developed motors, joints, arms, grippers, and complete units, with in-house joints at about RMB 1,000 to cut costs.

Commercialization(5)

  • Home data flywheel: reached 500 households and 50,000 hours by Jul 2026 (200 households / 20,000 hours in Jan, 300 households / 30,000 hours in Mar); 96.8% user satisfaction, 50% referral rate, 30% renewal rate
  • China's first robotics company with millions-scale real home scenario data; all prototypes fully booked, covering housework, companionship, pet care, and patrol monitoring, already inside ordinary families in many Chinese cities
  • The F1 started paid rental trials in Sep 2025 (RMB 3,000-4,000/month), with users renting before buying; purely ToC, firmly no ToB, benchmarking premium childcare service
  • Showed the F2 at WAIC 2026 in Jul 2026
  • Note: the third-party firm RobotScope pointed out that as of Mar 2026 only 5-6 prototypes were running outside, with the 500-household data produced by rotating the same batch of prototypes (conflicting accounts; to be confirmed)

Position & Strengths(6)

  • First-mover advantage: China's first robotics company focused on consumer home scenarios, and the world's first home robot brand to enter households and commercialize
  • The data flywheel turning first: 500 real households and 50,000 hours of data; a 50% referral rate proves product strength
  • Pragmatic route: skipped the lab stage to validate directly in real homes; went stealth for three years without fundraising, validating the product with 300 families
  • Self-evolving technology: AVLA to WAM world action model to WBC whole-body coordination, leading in physical reasoning
  • Full-stack cost reduction: in-house joints at RMB 1,000 versus RMB 8,000 purchased, among the industry's lowest joint costs
  • A cycle-tested founder: Zhang Yi weathered the rise and fall of the tutoring era, with large-scale education industry operations experience
