About
ROBOTERA was founded in August 2023 by Chen Jianyu, an assistant professor at Tsinghua University's Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences, and is the only robotics company in which Tsinghua University holds equity. It achieves the industry's only fully in-house stack spanning data, brain, motion control, dexterous hand, and body (95% of hardware self-developed): the STAR1 humanoid reached a measured running speed of 3.6 m/s; the XHAND1 fully direct-drive dexterous hand (12 DoF + 3D tactile sensing) is used by companies including Skild AI of the US and Rainbow Robotics of Korea; ERA-42 is a natively embodied VLA foundation model. Commercialization broke through in logistics: with China Post, SF Express, and others it deployed in 10+ logistics centers across northern, eastern, and southern China, with sorting efficiency reaching 90% of human sorters; in Q2 2026 it began 1,000-unit-scale batch delivery with 300% business growth; 2025 commercial orders exceeded RMB 500M, completing the industry's first logistics PMF. Between March and July 2026 it closed three intensive funding rounds - a RMB 1B strategic round, over $200M led by SF Express, and RMB 1B led by China Chengtong Fund - reaching a valuation above RMB 10B, with the industry's most industrial-capital investors (20+).
Technical Approach
