About
Xiaomi Robotics is Xiaomi Corporation's robotics business unit. It released the first-generation bionic quadruped CyberDog ('Tiedan') in 2021, and in 2022 unveiled the full-size humanoid CyberOne ('Tieda'; 1.77 m tall, 52 kg, 21 DOF) ahead of Tesla, after which it was deliberately shelved for four years. In November 2025 it recruited engineer Lu Zeyu from Tesla's Optimus dexterous-hand team, shrinking the bionic hand's volume by 60% and replicating an adult human hand 1:1; in March 2026 Lei Jun released the CyberOne dexterous hand (screwing screws, pinching a feather) and factory-work videos, formally returning to public view, and that year it took double championships at CVPR 2026 and ICRA 2026. In mid-2024 the robotics division merged into Xiaomi's EV division; in June 2026 it moved into the Beijing Yizhuang Xiaomi EV factory, completed its first equity change and brought in Yizhuang State Investment. CyberOne has completed real task tests at Xiaomi's EV factory — nut installation, tote handling and badge lamination (3 hours of continuous work); Xiaomi self-developed the MiMo foundation model and open-sourced the embodied model MiMo-Embodied. Xiaomi plans to invest over RMB 60B in AI over the three years from 2026, deploy over 2,000 robots in 2026 and reach 100,000-unit annual capacity in 2027 (planned; mass-production pace to be confirmed).
Technical Approach
Focuses on the two key links for landing — 'hands' (the dexterous hand) and the 'brain' (the MiMo foundation model): a self-developed model intelligence base plus real testing scenarios in its own factories (phone factory + EV production-line iteration) plus full supply-chain control. Deeply tied to Xiaomi's car business, putting autonomous driving, agents and embodied intelligence into one underlying technology logic; the CyberDog line keeps an over 80% open-source rate to build the developer ecosystem.
